Nipissing University names new Associate Dean

Dr. John Nadeau has been appointed Associate Dean (interim) of the Faculty of Applied and Professional Studies at Nipissing University.

“Dr. Nadeau is an accomplished academic with an impressive record of awards, publications, and service to the university and the community. He brings a wealth of experience, ideas and energy to the associate dean’s office,” said Dr. Arja Vainio-Mattila, Provost and Vice-President Academic and Research.

“His leadership is a significant asset as we continue to move Nipissing University forward.”

“It is exciting and humbling to be appointed Associate Dean,” said Dr. Nadeau.

“There is a strong foundation of excellence that exists at Nipissing, and I am thrilled to be able to contribute to our success. I plan to focus on maintaining stability as well as increasing efforts externally in fundraising and enhancing our relationships with community partners. It will also be important to look at the current programs with an eye to revision to ensure we are meeting the needs of our students, the business communities, and public organizations in our region, our province, and beyond. It is essential that we continue to graduate excellent professionals who embrace the spirit of innovation and our academic programs must serve that end.”

As Associate Dean of the Faculty of Applied and Professional Studies, Dr. Nadeau is responsible for leading the School of Business and the School of Criminal Justice.

Dr. Nadeau, a Professor of Marketing, has taught and worked at Nipissing since 2007, serving as the Director of the School of Business from 2012 to 2015. He was an Associate Professor and Director of the Bachelor of Sport Management in the College of Business at Ohio University for 2016-2017. Since 2011, Dr. Nadeau has also served as an adjunct professor in the School of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa.

Professionally, Dr. Nadeau has also worked as a marketing consultant since 2002 and previously worked with the Toronto Star from 2000-2002 and Tembec from 1998-2000. A dedicated community volunteer, Dr. Nadeau served as the Chair of the Welcoming Committee for the North Bay Newcomer Network from 2011 to 2016.

Dr. Nadeau holds a PhD in Management, a Master of Management Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University.

The appointment to Associate Dean (interim) is for a one-year term which began on July 1, 2018.
