The Nipissing chapter of the TELUS Ride for Dad has had to postpone its annual fundraising event due to the global pandemic.

Instead, organizers have come up with Ride Alone Together.

“It is critical we continue the fight again prostate cancer," says John Strang, committee.co-chair. "Every day nearly 65 Canadian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and another 12 men die from the disease.”

This Saturday would have marked the 2020 event but instead, the committee will be giving away complimentary, reusable facemasks.

“It’s our way of keeping the event alive, giving back to our community for their ongoing support and helping in the fight against COVID-19.”, Strang says. Volunteers will be out from 8 to 10 a.m. at Parker’s Independent, Canadian Tire, Giant Tiger, and Perron’s Freshmart in Astorville.

Masks will also be available, while supplies last, at Caisse Alliance North Bay, Scotiabank at Northgate Shopping Centre, Lucky 13 on McKeown Ave, Allstate Insurance, Osprey Links Golf Course in Callander, and Highview Golf Course in Powassan.
