A new government-sponsored program is looking to help alleviate business challenges while developing and educating young talent to meet industry needs and respond to emerging market opportunities.
The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) of Ottawa is launching an educational program in North Bay and the surrounding region that recognizes the need to solve skill-gap issues facing many small and medium-sized Ontario businesses.
Through funding provided in part by the Government of Ontario, ICTC, educational institutions, and industry leaders are joining forces to recruit youth to participate in a fully funded 24-week experiential training program here in North Bay, as well as Toronto and Ottawa.
"This experiential training is a career path investment and is poised to enable youth to position themselves as leaders in a competitive workforce, providing authentic experiences that employers seek. Ontario’s youth have the skills small businesses need to develop the technological disruptions of the future,” said Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development and Growth. “That’s why we’re pleased to partner with ICTC on this high-impact project.”
Youth will attain practical, transferable workplace skills in: project management; data analytics and business intelligence; entrepreneurship; enterprise resource planning (ERP) (including principles ofsales and marketing and accounting); and strategically evaluate business operations to empower companies to innovate leveraging advanced technology solutions.
Youth will receive a Business Digitization Certification upon completion.
