Reception This Friday, W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery, Capitol Centre, 150 Main St E, Friday, September 19, at 6 pm

The W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery, a part of your Capitol Centre, is pleased to invite you to a drop-in reception to officially present newly appointed Gallery Officer, Alex Maeve Campbell.

Dee Adrian, General Manager of the Capitol Centre; Sylvia Antinozzi, Interim Chair of the Gallery Advisory Committee; and David Barker, Past President of the Capitol Centre Board of Directors, will all address the gathering, followed by Alex Maeve Campbell who will present her vision for the future of the Gallery and its place in our community.

Alex’s career in arts administration began when she served as the production editor of Descant Magazine beginning in 2003, where she quickly gained recognition becoming the Editorial Assistant, and shortly after the Circulation Manager.

An artist herself, Alex has had a long-standing passion for the arts. Having displayed her work in over 30 exhibitions in galleries across Ontario between 2006 to present, Alex was the perfect candidate for a position at the Gallery. Alex began working as W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery Coordinator in 2008, and since that time has worked to bring many successful and unique activities and exhibitions to the Gallery.

Ever a creative thinker, she has created numerous special arts events — most notably the now bi-monthly Downtown Gallery Hop — that have united the Gallery with the community it serves.

In the role of Gallery Officer, Alex will work to further enhance the gallery’s community partnerships and build upon its many successful exhibitions and events, as well as endeavor to provide further artistic growth and education within the community. Her artistic career has also continued to flourish — in August 2014 she exhibited at Toronto gallery Graven Feather, and on September 27, 2014, will be presented with the Visual Arts Award at CBACH’s “The Creatives” Gala in North Bay.

Moving forward, Alex is looking forward to creating a revitalized Gallery, which will continue to encourage public participation, and further allow for creative and educational activities within North Bay and the surrounding area. In doing so she hopes to encourage active artistic participation within our community, in order to encourage and promote a new generation of artists and arts patrons.

The W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery has been a part of the Capitol Centre since it’s opening in 1987. Since then, it has undergone many changes, but has always been an integral part of North Bay and areas artistic community. The W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery is looking forward to building upon North Bay’s rich and vibrant art and culture community through further engaging exhibitions, and events.

Please join us to mark the occasion at 6 pm, and help us in beginning a new era for North Bay’s public gallery. Hors d’oeuvres, wine, and punch will be served. Speeches will begin at approximately 6:15 pm.
