New exhibit opening at the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence

The subject matter of the pieces includes portraits, different generations of military aircraft, and other military scenes

The Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence (CFMAD) at 22 Wing/CFB North Bay is launching a new art exhibit entitled “Ad Astra: From the Collection of the National Air Force Museum of Canada”.

The fine art collection at the National Air Force Museum of Canada located at 8 Wing/Canadian Forces Base Trenton, comprises about 400 pieces.  The staff at both museums have worked together to create a special showcase of 19 of these pieces.

The subject matter of the pieces includes portraits, different generations of military aircraft, and other military scenes. During the collaboration and research phase of the exhibit development, many stories of the artists or their subjects were discovered, and are on display with their respective works.

“Ad Astra: From the Collection of the National Air Force Museum of Canada” is available until May.

The museum is currently open Saturdays from noon – 4 p.m., or by appointment or group booking throughout the week. General admission is by donation.
