NECO Community Futures Development Corporation elects new members and executive

The money provided to area businesses resulted in 11 new jobs being created and 20 jobs being retained

The 29th Annual General Meeting of NECO Community Futures Development Corporation on November 1st included the presentation of the Corporation’s financial statement by François Roberge of Collins Barrow SNT and a summary of NECO’s activities in the past year which included loans of the value of $920,110.

The money provided to area businesses resulted in 11 new jobs being created and 20 jobs being retained. NECO loans also resulted in clients leveraging an additional $1,129,290 through other funders according to a news release from the group.

New members elected to serve on the board of directors include:

  • Jacques Bégin,
  • Doug Brydges,
  • Jerry Knox and
  • David Gray.

They join incumbents,

  • Dale Robinson,
  • Juanita Allan,
  • Roman Brozowski,
  • Caren Gagne,
  • David Lafayette,
  • Barbara Laplante and
  • Narry Paquette.

Election of the Executive followed the AGM with Narry Paquette elected as Chair and Dale Robinson elected to the position of Vice-Chair.

NECO is a not-for-profit corporation funded by the Government of Canada’s Community Futures program and governed by a volunteer board of directors. The objectives are to assist communities and businesses in the East Nipissing/East Parry Sound region in the creation of employment through funding for community economic development initiatives and special projects, as well as providing financial assistance and business services for small and medium-size enterprises.
