NDP to announce bill to improve winter road safety for northern highways

Drivers in this region are twice as likely to die in a crash than anywhere else in the province, according to an NDP news release.

NDP MPP Guy Bourgouin will hold a press conference in Queen’s Park tomorrow (Wednesday) to introduce a bill to improve winter road safety for northern drivers and their families.

Bourgouin will be joined by representatives from northern communities and businesses who will speak about the urgency to improve winter road maintenance in Northern Ontario. Drivers in the region are twice as likely to die in a crash than anywhere else in the province, according to an NDP news release.  

A truck driver from Grant’s Transport, a company represented at the press conference, was killed on Highway 11 during a snowstorm.

The news conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
