On Thursday, June 27, the AIDS Committee of North Bay & Area will hold its second annual National HIV Testing Day in North Bay from 1 to 3 p.m.

An estimated 70 communities will be offering free point-of-care testing to know your status in only one minute.

Gary Lacasse, Canadian AIDS Society Executive Director states "Building on the success of last year, this event is truly about normalizing HIV testing, increasing Canadians' capacity to make informed decisions regarding their own sexual health, and decreasing stigma.

This year's theme is "Know Your Status" as 1 in 5 Canadians living with HIV are unaware that they have HIV.

On June 27, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit will be at the AIDS Committee of North Bay & Area to offer this free one-minute test and ACNBA supportive staff will be available to answer your questions and link you to care if test results are HIV-positive.

The National HIV Testing Day event is organized by the Canadian AIDS Society, local community organizations and health authorities across Canada.
