Police have made a major dent in the northeastern Ontario drug trade.
On October 27, at approximately 8 p.m., OPP Community Street Crime Unit officers stopped a vehicle on Hwy 11, in Kirkland Lake.
The driver and passenger were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was used by members of the Temiskaming OPP at a home on Lakeshore Road in New Liskeard.
The search resulted in the following items being seized:
- Methamphetamine (speed) pills
- Fentanyl pills
- Crystal meth
- Cannabis hash
- Cannabis shatter
- Sawed off pump shotgun
- 22. caliber assault semi-automatic assault rifle
- Various caliber ammunition
- XBG pellet pistol
- Air rifle
Dwayne Nelson, 46, of Temiskaming Shores was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking,
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (x2) - in Canada,
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance (x3)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine (x2),
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl,
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Hash),
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Shatter),
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x2),
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- Breach of Firearms Regulations - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon (x2), and
- Possession of Loaded and Prohibited or Restricted Firearm,
Nelson was held for bail.
Claire LaForge, 46, of Temiskaming Shores was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking,
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 - in Canada,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine (x2),
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl,
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Hash),
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Shatter),
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x2),
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- Breach of Firearms Regulations - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon (x2), and
- Possession of Loaded and Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
LaForge was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Temiskaming Shores on November 28.
