A Burk's Falls man is facing assault charges after he allegedly threw a cup of hot coffee at a worker.

The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a business on Commercial Drive after a person threw a hot coffee at an employee on Wednesday, July 21 at 6:40 a.m. 

Police investigation revealed that Jonathan Renaud, 49 years of age, of Burk's Falls, Ont., was subsequently arrested and charged with:  

  • Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, August 26, 2021, in Sundridge Ontario.
