On April 20 at approximately 11:15 this morning, members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a wanted person call at an office on Philip Walk in Elliot Lake.
"During the police interaction, the person discharged a firearm and was fatally injured, " says a news release.
The OPP has notified the province's Special Investigations Unit which has invoked its mandate.
"As a result the OPP will not be able to provide any further information." says the release.
