POLICE CHARGE STITTSVILLE MAN WITH INTERNET LURING OFFENCES

(Ottawa, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (Project “P”), OPP Technical Crime Unit and the Ottawa Police Service have arrested and charged a Stittsville man following a two week internet luring investigation.

In January 2015, the accused was on an internet chat site and communicated with a police officer acting in an undercover capacity. The accused chatted with the officer for the purposes of making arrangements to meet a child for sexual purposes.

On January 21, 2015 the O.P.P. Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the Ottawa Police Service executed a search warrant at a Stittsville residence. As a result of this investigation, two computer devices were seized and are pending forensic analysis.

Thomas WHITE, age 53 years, of Stittsville Ontario is charged with two counts of Making an Agreement or Arrangement to Meet a Person Under 16 for a Sexual Purpose.

The accused was released from a bail hearing with conditions on January 22, 2015. He is scheduled to appear for on February 12, 2015, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa, Ontario.

The investigation is continuing.
