LOCAL CANADIAN RED CROSS WALMART CAMPAIGN A WINNER, AGAIN

The City of North Bay's Red Cross Walmart Disaster Relief fundraising campaign has once again reached its goal.

The City of North Bay's Red Cross Walmart Disaster Relief fundraising campaign has once again reached its goal.

At a morning meeting with Walmart employees today, final numbers were announced, and they were good! For the third year in a row, North Bay reached its goal of $10,489.49 dollars raised, good enough to place us in the top five of the province once again.

'We are thrilled!', said branch ambassador Dennis Chippa.

'The great thing is the money raised here by Walmart employees and area residents stays in this area, providing relief to the area when it is needed'

For the past several weeks, Walmart employees have been involved in soliciting donations at the checkout, selling cotton candy and encouraging people to be prepared for a natural disaster.

'We have no chance at success without the incredible work by Walmart's employees', said Chippa. 'They were amazing to work with' Disaster management coordinator Karrie Lepoudre stated “It was another great opportunity for our local volunteers to interact with the public about what they do and how people can be prepared.”

Provincially the Walmart campaign raised $ 984,620.91 for disaster relief.
