Time:  7 pm
Location: North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority
Natural Classroom, 15 Janey Ave,  North Bay

Inspired by the natural heritage and beauty of the 14 km La Vase River portage between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, 20 local artists from the Consolidated Artists Group of 7s have created paintings, sculptures, photographs and video to capture the importance of preserving and protecting this section of Canada’s Voyageur canoe route.

The La Vase Portage Art Exhibition official opening ceremonies will feature a Prayer for the Water by Nipissing First Nation Elder Evelyn McLeod, comments on the history of the river by Friends of La Vase Portage member Chris Mayne as well as Gerald Laronde, whose family history is intertwined with the La Vase River.   Visitors will be welcomed by NBMCA Board Chair Dave Mendicino and North Bay Mayor Al McDonald.  A birch bark canoe handcrafted by Cliff Moulder and Paul Harding will also be on display.

The La Vase Portage Art Exhibition is a collaboration between the Consolidated Artists Group of 7s, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority and Friends of La Vase Portage.  Artist funding provided by the Ontario Arts Council.

The Exhibition will be on display until October 31st , Thursdays to Sundays at scheduled hours.
