North Bay, ON – The North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce would like to remind shoppers, as the holiday season begins, on the importance to the local economy on shopping locally. These employers in the region employ your friends, family, neighbours, etc and when money is spent in our local stores, it circulates back into our economy. Our malls, shopping areas and our downtown boast a number of unique stores and gift ideas during this season. If there is something you can’t find, call the Chamber office, we may just have a member who offers the service or item you seek.
President Jake Lacourse stated “businesses mostly realize 25% of their yearly sales during the holiday season, so we encourage everyone to shop local. If for any reason locals need to shop outside the community or online due to unavailability locally, this would be a great opportunity for us to identify any deficiencies as qualified leads for us to attract to our region.” While we may not be able to fulfill everyone’s shopping list, it would be great to understand what people are wanting from their shopping experience and see if we can fill those gaps to ensure those products are sold locally. We currently see people from the north, west and east come to North Bay and area to do their shopping from smaller communities that don’t have the shopping experience we currently have. If our own local shoppers have ideas, Mr. Lacourse encourages them “to contact him personally or the Chamber office and see where we can assist.”
Once again, our region employs a number of people and increase their numbers of employed during the holiday season; give them the opportunity to show you some great products and services for this season’s gift giving.
