Impaired driver arrested on Highway 11

At approximately 7:16 p.m., on June 4, officers from the North Bay Detachment of the OPP received a traffic complaint of a vehicle on Highway 11 in North Bay, that was weaving all over the road. 

Officers found the vehicle and stopped it for a sobriety check of the driver. Officers conducted a roadside screening test for alcohol. The result was a fail and the driver was arrested and brought to the North Bay OPP Detachment for further tests.

David Mowatt, 66, of Armour Township, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Driving while ability impaired by alcohol and
  • Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood 

Mowatt was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.  

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, on June 19.
