Impaired charges laid after accident on Highway 17

 At approximately 6 a.m. on April 12, North Bay OPP were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Bonfield.

Officers who arrived determined the driver, who was uninjured, had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested at the scene for impaired driving, and taken to North Bay for further testing.

 As a result of the police investigation, Karis LINKLATER, 25, of Attawapiskat, Ontario is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver's license was suspended for 90 days. The driver was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on April 27.

This incident marks 24 drivers charged under the criminal impaired driving laws in the North Bay Detachment area in the year 2021.
