Impaired by drug hit and run driver sent four to hospital

He was placed under arrest for operation while impaired by drug and taken to the Temagami OPP detachment for further testing.

OPP arrested an Etobicoke man after a two-car collision on Highway 11 back on Sept. 3,

In a release today, police say shortly before 9 a.m. that day, North Bay OPP officers were called to a collision on Highway 11 in North Bay. The four occupants from one of the vehicles involved were rushed to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The other vehicle fled the scene.  

About two hours later, Temiskaming OPP officers stopped the vehicle on Highway 11 in Temagami and spoke to the driver.   

He was placed under arrest for operation while impaired by drug and taken to the Temagami OPP detachment for further testing.   

Brian Desroche, 45, from Etobicoke is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure to stop after an accident

Desroche was issued a 90-day Automatic Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.   

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend court in North Bay September 24.
