On June 4 at 8:39 p.m., Kirkland Lake OPP officers responded to a call in a remote area in Holmes Township, north east of Matachewan.
The OPP arrived at the wooded area and after further investigation found human remains. The identification of the remains is undetermined at this time.
The OPP North East Region Crime Unit continues to investigate with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner and a Forensic Anthropologist. Also assisting are the OPP Forensic Identification Services, the OPP Emergency Response Team, and the OPP Canine Unit.
