Highway 17 trucker blows over twice the legal limit

On June 12, shortly before 8 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the OPP responded to a traffic complaint involving a westbound tractor trailer on Highway 17, east of Blind River. 

Police later located the tractor-trailer on Highway 17 and when speaking to the driver, officers determined the driver had been consuming alcohol, blowing two and a half times over the legal limit. 

An open bottle of liquor was also located in the vehicle and was readily available to the driver.

The driver, Victor Jimbouev, 56, of Richmond Hill, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired-Motor Vehicle (Drug), 
  • Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, 
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available, and with
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 13.
