Nipissing University received a major gift from Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board (NUAAB) today during a noon event on campus.

The board made the announcement at the Harris Learning Library about the gift, totaling $20,000.

The new money has been earmarked for the naming of a study room at the Harris Learning Library.

The funding will be used to enhance the experience of students, staff, and faculty, as a way for alumni to support the institution which they had attended years prior.

NUAAB is an integral part of the university community, representing the collective experience of alumni, their traditions, and their ongoing contributions to the institution. The organization provides support for alumni programs, events, branch and chapter outreach, scholarships, and other initiatives. All graduates of Nipissing University are alumni members with access to a variety of benefits, and there are no membership fees.

“The board is absolutely elated to share the news of this gift,” said Jade Nighbor, President of the Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board in a release.

“Our alumni network is ever-growing and graduates are actively using our affinity programs which enable our team to give back. Channelling this support into a long-lasting and positive benefit for students, staff, and faculty is extremely rewarding and impactful."

Dr. Mike DeGagne, president and vice-chancellor of Nipissing University says the gift to the school is a commitment to the success of the students and alumni.

“We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with our alumni and celebrate their incredible contributions to Nipissing, North Bay, and the wider community,” said DeGagne.
