(TEMAGAMI, ON) On March 20, 2015 at approximately 11:00 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as the Bear Island First Nation Police, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Canine Unit responded to an emergency call involving a break and enter in progress located at a cottage on Bear Island.
Upon police arrival, two male suspects had fled the scene.
Through ongoing investigation two suspects have been apprehended by police and face several charges.
Jonathan PAUL, 36, of Bear Island is charged under the Criminal Code with:
· Break and Enter (two counts)
· Break, Enter and Theft of Firearm
· Firearm or Weapon Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order (six counts)
· Breach of Recognizance (four counts)
The accused will appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on March 27, 2015.
Shawn JONES, 32, of Bear Island is charged under the Criminal Code with:
· Assault and with
· Obstruct Peace Officer.
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on May 26, 2015.
