The Nipissing Reader Pee Wee AAA Trappers " set up a food drive for Sunday at 11 a.m.and collected a pickup truck full of food.

The load, which was dropped off this morning at the North Bay Food Bank, weighed in at 290 pounds.

Trappers head coach John Couch believes it is important for the young players to learn to give back.

"Recently we have heard how North Bay can solve hunger by just donating one item per person so we decided to do our part, and not wait for Christmas when there is usually a buzz around for food drives," said Couch.

"The boys had a blast going door to door, it was funny to hear people ask what we were selling.  This time instead of fundraising for our team we wanted to do some to help others. We are proud of their efforts."
