Once again local students from West Ferris Secondary School, École secondaire catholique Algonquin, and École secondaire publique Odyssée will be collecting food for the North Bay Food Bank tonight as part of their annual fall food drive.

Students will canvass specific areas of the city between 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.  Route details can be found on the food bank’s facebook page.

"We have over 100 students signed up to help, it's one of our longstanding Trojan traditions" said Mrs. Brunette, one of the organizers of this annual event.

Last year the Trojans collected over 10,000 pounds of food and hope to match that this year.

"The community is an important part in making this event successful. Discount Car and Truck Rental has donated a truck to transport the food to the food bank and Toppers Pizza gave us a great deal on pizza to help feed our volunteers," added Brunette.

The Trojan football, volleyball and basketball teams will also take time out of their busy schedules to give back to this important organization.

The annual fall food drive always helps give our shelves at the food bank a boost as we continue into the season of giving.

October’s Food of the Month is baby food, pablum, large sized diapers and wipes; however the food bank welcomes all non-perishable food items as donations.

The North Bay Food Bank is available to take food and monetary donations year round.

The food bank is located at 1016 Fisher Street in North Bay and is open to serve clients Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., and Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
