One in five Canadian companies was hit by a cyberattack in 2017 says Statistics Canada.

That's why on Tuesday, October 22, as part of Business Week 2019, The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound will host a Free Cyber Security Workshop for individuals and businesses from 9 till noon at The Grant Event Centre in North Bay.

The Cyber Security Workshop is a two-hour session that explores the practice of cyber hygiene in an interactive and thought-provoking format.

The learning outcomes of this workshop include:

  • learn how businesses are a target and the risks they face every day.
  • understand how and why cybercriminals are targeting businesses.
  • identify the gaps in their own cybersecurity.

"With more than 20 years of experience in security and enterprise information technology, the keynote speaker, Graeme Barrie is an expert in translating complex security issues into easy to understand and relatable objectives for business owners to leverage in their own organizations. He believes that awareness is key for business owners to protect their businesses and their clients," according to a news release.

TBC is a provincially funded not-for-profit organization, which offers information, programs, training, and resources to entrepreneurs, startups, and expanding businesses, at no cost, to foster a prosperous business environment in the region.
