The current Forest Fire Danger Rating for the areas covered by the Burks Falls Area Fire Department, Magnetawan Fire Department, Sundridge Strong Fire Department, Perry Township Fire Department, Kearney Fire Department, and McMurrich-Monteith Fire Department is currently at HIGH.
Fire Chief Grant Love says there is a ban on open-air burning including incinerators and fireworks. Only camp fires for cooking and warmth are permitted.
The current fire rating for the Village of South River and the Township of Machar is at high. Campfires are permitted but no burning permits will be issued. Fireworks are prohibited while the rating is at High.
