Fatal accident closed major highway for hours

A 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway now open.

A single vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 400 near Lake Joseph Road south of Parry Sound just before 7a.m. today has left one woman dead.

The occupants were extricated from the vehicle and one passenger, a 42-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers were airlifted to a Toronto area hospital with life-altering injuries and the driver was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Highway 400 in that area was closed for several hours, however, has since reopened. Expect heavy delays in area.
