Employee charged after writing himself cheques

An employee had made fictitious invoices for various products and then made out cheques for the invoices payable to himself.

On November 28, 2016, members of the West Parry Sound OPP received a report from a local business of an internal fraud.  An investigation ensued with the assistance of the West Parry Sound OPP Crime Unit.

The investigation has thus far revealed that an employee had made fictitious invoices for various products and then made out cheques for the invoices payable to himself. The total fraud is believed to be approximately $50,000. 

The offences are believed to have begun in November 2015, and ended in November 2016 when the employee ceased to work for the company.  

As a result of the investigation;

Jamie Sim, 37 years of age from McKellar Township was arrested and charged with;

  • Fraud Over $5,000, 
  • Utter Forged Document, 
  • Theft Under $5,000, 

He will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on February 2, 2017 to answer to his charges.
