The 3rd Annual “Empire Warms Hearts” event raised $2,800 for The North Bay Warming Centre.

For a minimum $5 donation, diners enjoyed a bowl of chili, a bun, cookie and beverage. Many visitors gave more than the minimum, putting $10, $20 or in one case $100 into the payment box. Staff, residents, and volunteers & social club members worked to serve the guests and clear the tables.

Empire General Manager Ariane Savard is extremely pleased. “We broke our internal goal of $2,500 and couldn’t be happier! We also had many residents and visitors who dropped off socks and useful items that will go to good use at the centre. After this year’s event we have been able to provide The Warming Centre with over $11,000 and that’s something we are proud to be a part of.”

Empire Sales Directors Tara Hampel and Nicole Bamford add “This is exactly the kind of community we live in and everyone wants to do so much. Yes, our residents have many fun activities in-house on a daily basis: yoga, Zumba, games, movies and such; but this sort of city-wide event truly lets them interact with the community. It gives us the chance to use the Empire as a community gathering place. You don’t have to live here to be a member of our social club so it’s a great way to keep that group active as well.”
