E biker charged with drunk driving

(BURK’S FALLS, ON) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a Burk’s Falls man with impaired operation on an e-bike on Saturday December 6, 2014 at approximately 5:15p.m.

Officers were patrolling Main Street, Burk’s Falls Ontario when they noticed an e-bike travelling on Main Street with a New Jersey licence plate.  Police stopped the bike and subsequently arrested and charged the driver for having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The driver, Richard ANDERSON, 52 of Burk’s Falls Ontario was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, Ontario on Thursday January 22, 2015.

               R.I.D.E. PROGRAM LEADS TO TWO DRUG SEIZURES

(PERRY TWP, ON) On Saturday December 6, 2014 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police was conducting a R.I.D.E. program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Highway 518 and Masons Road, Perry Township.  At approximately 2:30 p.m., a vehicle, approached officers and subsequently the driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and drive motor vehicle no currently validated permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. 

The driver, Sean MCKNIGHT, 43 of Huntsville Ontario was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, Ontario on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

At approximately 2:45p.m., a second vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. program where officers again arrested the driver for possession of a controlled substance, marihuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  The driver was also charged with liquor readily available, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.  The driver, Timothy JOHNSTON, 53 of Mississauga Ontario was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, Ontario on Thursday January 22, 2015.
