West Nipissing police say they were on general patrol on Feb. 4th when they saw two men fighting on Main Street.

An officer approached the men and ordered them to stop fighting and to stay put.

Instead, one man fled on foot while the other remained at the scene.

The remaining man told the officer that he was just walking down the street when the other man attacked him.

Police found the second man on Levesque Street where he was placed under arrest for causing a disturbance by fighting.

The first man advised police that he did not want any charges laid for the assault.

Police say the second man was visibly drunk and was arrested and charged under the Liquor Licence Act for being intoxicated in public.
