Drunk driver stopped going wrong way on highway 400 Parry Sound

The vehicle continued in the wrong direction and disobeyed two wrong way signs

Yesterday, shortly after 7 p.m., a West Parry Sound OPP officer saw a motor vehicle signal and turn onto the 400 Highway off-ramp in Parry Sound.

The vehicle continued in the wrong direction and disobeyed two wrong way signs, then meeting a vehicle exiting the 400 Highway.

The officer stopped the vehicle, spoke with the driver and determined that he had consumed alcohol. An open container of liquor was found in the car.

David Fonk, 27,  from McKellar, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol, 
  • Driving motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, 
  • Driving vehicle with an open container of liquor, and
  • Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero.

Fonk was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, on July 5.
