Police Services across Ontario will be celebrating Police Week next week, from May 10th to May 15th, 2015. For this year’s theme, Discover Policing, the North Bay Police Service will promote policing as a career to local high school students.

Officers will be present at local high schools during lunch hours throughout the week to answer questions students may have about policing and to distribute career brochures. The five-day schedule is as follows:

Monday 11 May
From 12:05 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. – Widdifield Secondary School

Tuesday 12 May
From 11:40 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. – Chippewa Secondary School

Wednesday 13 May
From 11:20 a.m. to 12:25 pm. – École secondaire publique Odyssée

Thursday 14 May
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. – West Ferris Intermediate and Secondary School

Friday 15 May
From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – École secondaire catholique Algonquin

Because of the varied nature of police work, policing lets people apply the skills and experiences they’ve developed from their previous training, education, professional, and personal life. Policing offers opportunities for personal growth, continuous learning, a high level of job satisfaction, as well as opportunities for specialization and promotion. Anyone interested in a law enforcement career is invited to visit the North Bay Police Service’s website at northbaypolice.ca/career-opportunities or the Ontario Association of Police Chiefs’ Facebook page at http://www.discoverpolicing.ca.
