At approximately 3 a.m. on Friday September 19th, North Bay Police received a report of a man driving dangerously while following a vehicle travelling northbound from Lakeshore Drive towards the overpass and downtown.
Police located and stopped the suspect at Fraser and McIntyre shortly thereafter, arresting him for dangerous driving. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed that he had marijuana in his possession as well as a magnum Baby Desert Eagle BB gun and a BB gun pistol.
As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police charged Paul Prior, age 46 of North Bay, with one count of criminal harassment, one count of dangerous driving, one count of carry concealed weapon, one count of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of breach of prohibition order..
North Bay man faces several charges for fraud and theft
A North Bay man faces several charges today, accused of financially abusing his elderly mother, who relied heavily on him for her daily living needs and the management of her finances.
In early 2013, persons close to the victim became concerned about possible financial abuse being perpetrated against her by the accused and informed North Bay Police of their concerns.
An ongoing North Bay Police investigation revealed that over a two-year period from early 2012 to the end of 2013, the accused used the victim’s cheques to make several unauthorized purchases. He is also accused of making several money transfers from the victim’s bank account to his own.
As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged the accused on Thursday September 18th with:
· three counts of fraud over $5000;
· two counts of theft over $5000;
· three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000; and
· one count of uttering forged documents.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court in October 2014. In the interest of protecting the identity of the victim in this investigation, the name of the accused will not be released.
