Damaging a vehicle nets mischief charge for Sturgeon man

On September 26, at 10:55 a.m., Nipissing West OPP officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on the property of a business located on Highway 17, just west of Sturgeon Falls.

Officers arrived and arrested a man for trespassing. 

Investigation revealed he had damaged a vehicle and was in possession of stolen property. 

Further investigation revealed police had investigated a theft from a vehicle at the same location the day prior and confirmed some of the recovered property, was in fact, the items reported stolen. 

As a result of the investigation, Jason Garnier, 43, of Sturgeon Falls, is charged with:

  • Three counts of possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 
  • Theft under $5,000 - shoplifting
  • Mischief Under $5,000

Garnier is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 5 in Sturgeon Falls.
