Curling event receives support from provincial government

Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $18,500 to the North Bay Curling and Athletic Corporation to provide financial support for hosting the 2022 Boost National Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event happening at Memorial Gardens in North Bay.

“The 2022 Boost National Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling will contribute significantly to the local economy,” said Fedeli. “It is our hope that North Bay continues to leave a lasting legacy as an amazing location to host large-scale curling events!”

“As Co-chairmen of the Boost National Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Event being held from October 4 to 9 at the North Bay Memorial Gardens, we are thrilled and extremely appreciative of the very generous support that the Government of Ontario has provided through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport," said Mark Brown and Rick Miller.

They added, “The appreciation shown by Minister Neil Lumsden and our local MPP Mr. Vic Fedeli, acknowledging the economic impact and financial benefit to the City of North Bay in hosting these types of world-class events, drives us to continue to pursue new and exciting opportunities. We are pleased to showcase the Province of Ontario as a viable host for national and international events of this stature.” 

"Ontario supports events that highlight the development of our high-performance athletes, coaches and officials while increasing the confidence of Ontarians participating in sports and attending sports events in a safe manner, as we move on from the COVID-19 pandemic," reads a news release from Fedeli's office.
