Criminal Harassment charges laid

On November 22, OPPMattawa Detachment officers received a call that a man had breached conditions of his undertaking.   

The man was arrested and released on conditions on November 13, for harassing communications. One of the conditions was no contact with the victim.   

On November 22, the victim went to the Mattawa OPP detachment to report that the accused had approached and spoke to her at a local hardware store, so she left the store. The accused followed her out and was taking photos of her in the parking lot.  

Later that day officers arrested a 63-year old male from Papineau-Cameron Township and charged him with:

  • Criminal Harassment and
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given By Officer In Charge x 2.

The accused, whom police did not identify, was held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, North Bay, today.
