Crime Unit investigating overdose death

The OPP Crime Unit is investigating after police responded to a call at a residence on Elliot Street in Temiskaming Shores yesterday.

The call came in shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Investigation revealed that a 37-year-old person was found unresponsive and a short time after was pronounced dead from a suspected opioid overdose.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in Sudbury, at the Centre of Forensic Sciences at a later date. 

The Temiskaming Crime Unit will be continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner - Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Members of the Temiskaming OPP, the North East Region OPP Community Street Crime Unit, and the Timiskaming District Emergency Medical Service assisted on the call.
