Crime of the week: Shot and abandoned calf moose

The Near North Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's assistance in solving the unlawful harvest and abandoning of calf moose in two separate incidents near River Valley.

On Saturday, October 13, Conservation Officers discovered a harvested calf moose in a ditch close to the Henry Crerar Road (known locally as the Rochon Road), 5 kilometres west of River Valley.

On Wednesday October 24, Conservation Officers discovered a harvested calf moose in a ditch on the Lynn Creek Road, a forest access road off the St. Joseph Road, 10 kilometres northeast of River Valley.

Conservation Officers determined that in both incidents each calf moose was harvested unlawfully and subsequently abandoned.
