The Empire, North Bay's Landmark Retirement Residence, is opening its doors to the community so citizens can open their hearts to support The North Bay Warming Centre.

The Centre offers comfort, food, warming supplies like blankets, gloves and socks, as well as a place to spend cold winter nights.

On Friday March 10th from 11 a.m to 1:30 p.m., the public will be welcome to drop by for “The Empire Warms Hearts”. For a minimum $5 donation, guests will receive a bowl of chili, a bun, beverage and an Empire Cookie.

You can relax and enjoy your chili in the Empire Ballroom, or get it as take-out to go, says a news release from the Empire. Pre-order forms are available for businesses or groups who wish to come by and pick up for their offices.

The Empire's General Manager Ariane Savard, says the Warming Centre is especially important at this time of year. "With the winter weather in our area, we know there will be people suffering through cold nights and difficult circumstances. Once again we’re proud to support the volunteers at The North Bay Warming Centre as they work to keep people safe and warm."

The Empire is located at 425 Fraser Street at the corner of Fraser and McIntyre.
