News Release

*******************

On Sunday, October 5th, runners and walkers from across North Bay will be lacing up, wearing pink and showing their support for the 22nd annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.

Held at the North Bay Waterfront, the CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada’s largest single-day, community driven fundraising event supporting breast cancer. The money raised at this event will be invested in breast cancer research, health education and advocacy programs.

Why is this important? One in nine Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That means, this year alone, close to 24,000 women will hear the words “You have breast cancer”. It could be a mother, sister, daughter or friend.

However, there is a bright light. Monies raised through events like the CIBC Run for the Cure have led to advancements in prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for those living with breast cancer.

This has contributed to a 43 per cent decrease in the breast cancer mortality rate since the 1980s.
It’s not too late to join. Visit www.runforthecure.com and sign up today. You can help create a future without breast cancer.
