Chippewa Secondary School is getting a huge technology grant thanks to Future Shop.

Through Future Shop’s Future Generation Tech Lab grant program, the school is receiving a cheque for $19,850 to complement the classroominfrastructure to support student learning.

The donation is part of the $150,000 the program is awarding to nine
secondary schools across Canada, benefitting more than 3,700 students.

Staff and students will join Future Shop representatives for a cheque presentation on Tuesday, September 23 at
10:00 a.m. at Chippewa Secondary School, 539 Chippewa Street West, North Bay.

With their Future Generation Tech Lab grant, the school is now looking to create a ‘Chippewa Raider Therapeutic Life
Skills Technology Lab’ that will serve students with a variety of special needs.

By further enhancing a classroom with different technology, from tablets and laptops to small and large appliances, students will continue to learn invaluable life skills and see even greater academic success.

With this lab, Chippewa Secondary School is making strides in helping all of its students reach their full potential.

Chippewa Secondary School discovered the door-opening potential of technology when it first introduced a tablet into
its Special Education program.

A combined ease-of-use design and powerful educational apps make it possible for students with special needs to communicate on their own terms, without barriers that might have once stood in their way.

Founded in 2008, the Future Shop Future Generation Tech Lab program has awarded more than $2 Million in
monetary grants to 63 schools seeking resources to complement the classroom technology necessary to inspire,
motivate and empower today's students.

The goal of the program is to help reduce the digital and socioeconomic divide for youth by providing them with additional modern technology to stay inspired as they move into post-secondary education and into the workforce.
