Canadore signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with representatives from a prominent technical training institute in India on Monday at its Aviation Campus.

The MOU will partner the two institutions through information sharing of best practices for training future aviation professionals, who can complete part of their training in India and part at Canadore.

N. Arulselvan, Managing Director of Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) said the need for skilled technicians in India prompted the need for international partnerships.

“Aviation is one sector that is booming in India, the number of airline companies and aircraft is increasing. We need skilled technicians, and to cater to the need of the skilled technicians we are now working closely with Canadore College (to learn) how the programs that are successfully run here can be offered in India. We want to create the right kind of partnership on a long-term basis,” said Arulselvan.

Canadore was in New Delhi, India in July visiting NTTF facilities and creating the building blocks to the new partnership.

“We found their facility outstanding, top drawer, the best I’ve seen in all of India in terms of technical training. The way in which we deliver our technical training is very similar between the two institutions and we all agree that the highest quality standard needs to be met. Now we are in the next phase of structuring our agreement,” said Richard Peters, Canadore’s Vice President of Finance, Admin and International.

“This is part of our goal to help build world-class Aviation and Trades training capabilities.”

The partnership comes in the wake of India's Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s announcement to launch the SKILL INDIA initiative in July, which is aimed at improving the technical skills of over 400 million citizens.

NTTF is an educational foundation established in 1963. It is a symbol of Indo-Swiss co-operation, aimed at promoting purposeful technical education for the youth of India. The Foundation implements its program of technical training through more than 20 training centres located in various states across India.
