Canadore Hosting Pow-Wow Bootcamp

(NORTH BAY, ONT.) – In response to requests from students, employees and the broader community, Canadore College will be hosting a pow-wow boot camp sessions tomorrow.

“We are a very inclusive People,” said Gerard Peltier, Recruitment and Retention Officer at Canadore College’s First Peoples’ Centre. “Over time we’ve heard that some people are somewhat shy or uncomfortable to participate in our celebrations because they don’t know the etiquette. We are excited to share this knowledge!”

The workshops are open to the whole community and will share traditional knowledge and customs surrounding Indigenous culture, dance and regalia.

Peltier encourages participants to wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

“You’ll be moving around a lot. It’s fun and a great workout.”
