News Release

***************

Next week, October 19 – 25, marks the annual Canadian Foster Families Week in Canada.  This week is typically celebrated by Children’s Aid Society in acknowledgement of the critical role foster families play in helping to raise children who, for a variety of reasons, can’t be raised in biological family settings.

The League of Ontario Foster Families (LOFF) is a provincial advocacy group representing thousands of Ontario foster families including those in the Nipissing Parry Sound region.  Our local Foster Parent Association (FPA) and LOFF recognize and applaud the efforts of foster families in providing care, comfort and support to children and their families who just need a little help. We recognize the lifestyle challenges associated with providing guidance, nurturing, and a family environment to grow and thrive in.  We recognize the importance of creating opportunity in the everyday. We recognize the commitment that foster parents feel towards the children we raise together. Foster families even provide Ontario’s largest pool of adoptive homes.

Available foster care in Ontario is shrinking in some regions.  We need your help!  If you feel you have it in your heart to open your doors to fostering, please contact your local Children's Aid Society or Family and Children’s Agency. The richness you receive as a foster parent cannot be realized in dollars and cents, but rather by the outcomes of the children and families we serve.

Sincerely,

Michael Paquette
