Bonfield resident charged with impaired

This latest charge totals 64 drivers that have been charged under the criminal impaired driving laws in the North Bay OPP Detachment

On December 29, 2020, members of the North Bay Detachment of the OPP were conducting RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Gagnon Street in Bonfield.

At approximately 9 p.m., a vehicle was checked by officers who determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The person was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

Donald Chaput, 68, of Bonfield, is charged with "Operation While Impaired."

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver's license was suspended for 90 days.

Chaput was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 19..

This latest charge totals 64 drivers that have been charged under the criminal impaired driving laws in the North Bay OPP Detachment area for the year 2020 (11 of which were during the annual Festive RIDE initiative).
