News release: In cooperation with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) of India, North Bay’s Canadore College and India’s Nettur Technical Training Foundation announced the opening of their first Aviation Technical Training Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Karnataka this week.

The centre will provide world-class training in aviation maintenance, avionics, aircraft structural repair and aircraft maintenance engineering.  The training facility is fully accredited, meeting the strictest standards governed by the Aviation Sector Council of the NSDC, the Director General of Civil Aviation of India and the International Civil Aviation Organization.

“This collaboration combines the strengths and advantages of each of our organizations to fill an important need identified by the Government of India,” said Richard Peters, Vice-President of Finance and Corporate Services. “It is very rewarding to be working alongside NTTF to help the nation upskill its workforce to meet global demands.”

According to the Government of India’s Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, the country is the ninth largest civil aviation market, and is projected to be the third largest aviation market by 2020 with more than 60 million international passengers.

“The rapid growth will leave India underserviced if they don’t ramp up the number of professionally skilled aviation technicians,” said Peters. “This is why we are working diligently with NTTF, and other domestic and international industry players, to create a centre that will provide unparalleled training to produce job-ready graduates.”

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne was also in New Delhi on a trade mission this week announcing agreements with Indian partners valued at $98 million and discussing opportunities for leaders from Ontario and India to share expertise in research, technology and education.

“Canadore is committed to working with India to develop a skilled workforce,” said Peters. “We are hoping to create more centres of excellence with NTTF as our partner.”

With over 53 years of training experience, NTTF is widely recognized across India as the pre-eminent provider of the highest quality of technical training in tool and die making, electronics, information technology and manufacturing, as well as technology and engineering.
