Susan Philpott, author of “Blown Red”, will be coming to the North Bay Public Library on Thursday, June 4 at 7 pm. Her talk will be: Getting Published - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Susan Philpott will talk about how she transformed a part-time passion for creative writing into a career as a published novelist. She will show you how a willingness to grow your writing craft, a touch of good luck, and endless determination can ensure your story makes it out of the slush pile and into the eager hands of a publisher. Utilizing a lively question and answer format, she will discuss the realities of finding and working with an agent, what to expect during the editing and marketing stages, and most importantly, how to weather the inevitable emotional roller coaster.

Susan Philpott holds a Master's degree in both Science and Social Work. Over the years, she has worked as a furniture rental salesperson, a teaching assistant at the University of Guelph, a zoo-keeper at the Metro Toronto Zoo, and a registered social worker. The mother of three adult children, she lives in the wilds of Ontario with her husband and yellow lab. “Blown Red” was published by Simon and Schuster Canada in January 2015 and is the first book in her Signy Shepherd Series. The TV rights to the Signy Shepherd series has been sold to Over the Pond Productions in association with ITV Studios America.

The presentation will take place in the auditorium. The cost is $3 per person. Tickets can be purchased, in advance, from the Adult Desk.
