August bee night creates local buzz

Local beekeeper, Brian Berg, was the guest speaker at the August Bee Night at 250 Clark in Powassan. 

He demonstrated how to combine beeswax to make beauty products.

Honey Bees are relatively new to Ontario. They were an agricultural import, brought to North America for honey production and crop pollination. Before Honey Bees crossed the ocean, Ontario’s major pollinators were native bees, whose behaviour is often very different from the stereotypical honey bees.

Thurs. Aug. 16- 1-4pm- Science North "Make it Move" Play Workshop at 250 Clark.  Free and fun for kids of all ages.  "Amazing Planets" presentation at 3pm.

Sat. Aug. 18-9am- Paint Class with Joy Ann Osborne at 250 Clark.  Advance register by calling municipal office at 724-2813. 

Thurs. Aug. 23- 7pm- Girls' Night Out at 250 Clark. Watch the movie "Tully" along with a few cocktails and some laughs.  Advance sign up, please.

Sat. Sept. 8- 9am- Landscape Acrylic Art Class at 250 Clark with Sandra Reed.  Advance sign up at municipal office at 724-2813

Sat. Sept. 15- 10-2pm-Mom to Mom Sale at 250 Clark.  Recycle, make some money, and sell your children's clothing and sporting goods to make way for winter stuff!  Register your table by calling the municipal office 724-2813.
