Accident results in arrest for impaired driving

At approximately 9:50 p.m., on April 16, North Bay OPP officers responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Highway 522B in Powassan.   

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was brought to hospital by ambulance. Police conducted breath tests at the hospital.   

As a result of the police investigation, Emily Kelly-Zavitz, 53, of Powassan, was charged with:  

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration - 80 plus.

She was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

She was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on May 28.
